RESULTS OF GODLY AND UNGODLY LIFE (COL 3: 23- 25)
RESULTS OF GODLY AND UNGODLY LIFE (COL 3: 23- 25):
After writing some specific instructions to the people in the
household, Paul makes a conclusive note to Colossians. Paul writes that
whatever they do, they shall work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
knowing that from the Lord they will receive the inheritance as their reward.
They are serving the Lord Christ. We may have been entrusted with some
responsibilities or we may have taken some responsibilities, whatever it is, we
are accountable for it and we should manage it by being good stewards. We
should do it as it is seen by the Lord and not just take it for granted or just
do it incompletely without any interest or concern. God will surely reward for
every act of righteousness with a wholesome sincere heart and integrity. Also,
though it may not be noticed by people around and much appreciated, God will
provide his inheritance as Sons or Daughters of God. When we do the tasks
entrusted or taken completely without any flaws or by giving the best of our time
or talents or treasure, surely we are serving the Lord Christ as it shows our
fruitfulness and faithfulness. Also, there is no hypocrisy and there is no
segregation of secular, social, and spiritual responsibility in a person who genuinely
knows and follows God.
After writing about how things should be done, Paul writes the
condemnation if things were not done in the right way. Paul writes that the wrongdoer will be
paid back for the wrong he had done, and there is no partiality. God will
surely bring into judgment all the actions done and the words spoken. A person
who had done a mistake needs to face the consequence of the mistake,
irrespective of who he or she is. God created everything and looks at everyone
equally and there is no favoritism in His eyes.
Stimulations for Self-Reflection:
1.
How do we do our tasks? Why?
2.
What we should know while doing
something for the Lord wholeheartedly?
3.
Whom we are serving when we do
things wholeheartedly? How?
4.
Who will be paid back for the
wrong? Why?
5.
Why there is no partiality in God?
